Episode 113: Life Lately

Sometimes you don’t need a life lesson—you just need to catch up with your girlfriends.

This week on herspective, Jillian and Drey are taking a break from the heavier conversations for a good old-fashioned life update. They’re talking about what they’ve been reading (or not reading), Drey’s recent girls’ trip to Greece, wedding planning round two, Jillian’s latest adventures in dating, getting back into the gym, and—because apparently it’s part of her personality now—sourdough.

But somewhere between Greek feta, blocking men, bachelorette party ideas, and debating whether they’re unhinged enough to do 75 Hard again, the conversation turns to something a little more relatable: why does it always feel like when one area of life is thriving, another one is falling apart?

Enter the Four Burner Theory—the idea that we only have so much energy to divide between our health, relationships, social lives, and careers. Drey thinks accepting that limitation might actually be healthy. Jillian would respectfully like a third burner.

They also talk about discipline versus balance, gym anxiety, getting back into strength training, and learning to work with the season of life you’re actually in instead of expecting yourself to have everything figured out at once.

And before they wrap, Jillian shares a special tribute to her dad for his 70th birthday and the role he played in teaching her to chase what she wants, take chances, and build a life she won’t someday regret.

It’s books, travel, dating, weddings, fitness, friendship, sourdough, too many burners, and plenty of questionable commentary along the way.

Basically, it’s life lately—herspective style.
